Dirty Bertie "en français"

The French translation of my biography of Edward VII is coming out on October 4. Here was a man who was really in favour of free movement within Europe, and especially in French bedrooms. But he put all his fun and frolicking to excellent use. Thanks to his love of the French, and of travelling between European spas, he almost single-handedly calmed down his nephew the Kaiser, and stopped him moving his troops freely into France. During his lifetime, that is. Edward died in 1910, and the French announced: "Now no one can prevent war".

I think the French will enjoy learning how they turned Victoria's repressed, Germanic son into the most free-thinking internatonalist in British royal history.
