New novel, Paul West in Brussels
The more politically aware of you will have noticed that Merde in Europe has been the subject of fiendish planning. A novel about the bizarre goings-on in Brussels just as Britain explodes with Brexit fever?
Well, yes. Last year, knowing that there would be a referendum, I started going to Brussels to work-shadow friends and interview people at the European Parliament and European Commission. And it quickly became clear that there was a fun novel to be written about a Brit at the heart of Europe, not really knowing whether he wanted to be part of it or not.
All I had to do was finish the book before the date of the referendum was announced. Which I did. And here it is. Paul West, an expert in politically incorrect gaffes, in the capital of European politics.
